Drafting Women's Tailored Skirt

[Pic of women's tailored skirt pattern draft.]
On the left side of the paper, mark point A and draw down F1 (center front length) and mark point B .
From B , square right ( F4 / 2 ) and mark point C .
From C draw a line parallel to line A - B , equal to F2 (center back length) and mark point D .
From D , square left ( F2 - F1 ) and mark point E .

NOTE:
Line D - E must be at least 1/2" even in such cases where the front and the back center lengths are alike.

Draw a line from E to A .
From D on line D - C , measure down 7 " (17.5 cm) (for the hip depth), and mark point F .
Draw a new center back line from E through F equal to F2 (center back length) and mark point G .
Draw a line from G to C .
Find the center of line A - E , and mark point H .
From H on line H - A , measure left 0.5 " (1.25 cm) and mark point I .
Find the center of line B - C and mark point J .
From J on line J - C , measure right 0.5 " (1.25 cm) and mark point K .
Draw the side seam line from I to K .

NOTE:
The position of the side seam may be changed if desired. The waistline A - E must be reduced by means of darts to the correct waist measurement.

Subtract one-half of F3 (waist) from the measurement of line A - E (which is ( ( F4 / 2 ) - ( F1 - F2 ) ) ) and note the difference; call it X .
Y equals to X / 3.
From I , measure left Y ( ( ( ( ( F4 / 2 ) - ( F1 - F2 ) ) - ( F3 / 2 ) ) / 3 ) ) and mark point L .
From I , measure right Y ( ( ( ( ( F4 / 2 ) - ( F1 - F2 ) ) - ( F3 / 2 ) ) / 3 ) ) and mark point M .
Find the center of line M - E and mark point N .
From N measure left and right Y / 2 and mark points O and P .
From I measure down 7 " (17.5 cm) and mark point Q .
Draw the side dart lines from L to Q , and from M to Q .
Draw the back hip line from Q to F .
From N , square down to line Q - F and mark point R .
Draw the back hip dart lines from O to R , and from P to R .

How to cut the tailored skirt pattern.
Cut out the front pattern on lines B - A - L - Q - K - B
Round off the corner at Q .
Notch point Q .
Cut out the back pattern on lines G - E - P - R - O - M - Q - K - G .
Round off the corner at Q .
Notch point Q .

How to shape the waistline.
NOTE:
The waistline must be shaped so that it will be one smooth curve from center front to center back.

Place the front and back skirt patterns together so that line L - Q amd M - Q meet. Close the back hip dart so that line O - R and P - R meet.
Square guide lines from A and E , at center front and center back.
Draw a smoothly curved line for the waistline from points A to E .
Cut the patterns on the corrected waistline.
